Let your tabs rest. Keep your work awake.

The idea

TabSiesta is a Chrome extension that puts idle tabs and collapsed tab groups to sleep using Chrome’s native tab discard API. Tabs keep their URLs and place in the window, then reload when selected. Protection rules help keep drafts, active work, and pages with one-time secrets awake.

Native tab sleep

Idle timers and collapsed-group automation free tab memory without replacing pages with placeholders.

Keep your work awake

Protect edited forms, selected tabs, and pages with configured warning phrases. Site exceptions and individual tab protection give you control.

Local and inspectable

Settings stay on your device. A tab audit shows sleeping and awake tabs, protection status, and recorded sleep reasons. No telemetry or remote services.
